About this site

Small Biz Hub is an independent guide for Australian small business owners. It exists because 2026-27 stacks several rule changes into one year, and each one forces a practical decision that the official announcement does not help you make.

What we do and do not claim

We are a research and reference site, not an accountant, a tax agent or a payment provider. Nothing here is tax, legal or financial advice. We explain what a rule says, link you to the regulator's own page, and compare the tools that help you comply. For anything that depends on your business's circumstances, ask your accountant or BAS agent.

We cover payment terminals and business software, not loans or credit. We do not compare business loans, overdrafts or merchant cash advances.

Where the information comes from

  • Rule changes and dates come from the regulator that made the rule: the Reserve Bank of Australia for card surcharging, the ATO for super and payroll, AUSTRAC for anti-money-laundering obligations. News coverage is not a source here.
  • Provider fees come from each provider's published Australian pricing page. Every fee carries the date it was checked and a link to where it was published. Where a provider only quotes on application, the table says so rather than guessing.
  • Software prices and features come from the vendor's Australian pricing page, including GST, with the plan name and checked date.

Keeping it current

Fees and plans change often, and rules get delayed or amended. We re-check the calendar and the fee register on a schedule, and before each major rule date. A page whose whole purpose is accurate dates and fees cannot afford a stale one, so the checked date is always on the page.

Corrections

If a date, fee or plan here is wrong, we want to know. We will fix it and update the checked date.

Current data vintage: figures on this site were last checked 17 October 2026. Small Biz Hub Australia is not affiliated with the RBA, ATO, AUSTRAC or any provider we cover. See how we make money.
